I'm in love with this new setup I put together in my bedroom, especially since I just recently purchased the phrenology head from Jinxed. The photo of City Hall is something Pedro gave me for my birthday. We joke around and say that it's Philadelphia back when it was nice.
We go to flea markets often (almost weekly). We mainly go to Columbus or various flea markets in Philadelphia. I'm always a sucker for little tchotchkes. Some examples of things I've purchased throughout the past few months are hat pins (I used to wear them on cardigans all the time and decided I needed to bring that back), a little Russian nesting doll (another thing I'm obsessed with), a JFK glass, owls galore and a rotary phone (it works, but damn you Comcast for not recognizing the signal). Plus, a few weeks ago, I found a great over-the-shoulder beige Dooney and Bourke bag for $10, which I'm still geeking out about. It's definitely a fun thing to do on the weekends, even if you're just looking or, my favorite, people-watching.

"Harlem" by New Politics.
I'm that nut who walks all over the beach in search of seashells galore. I feel a craft project in my future with some of the ones I found. Plus, Pedro found this one that's pictured. Pac-Man sand dollar?
...and HOORAY to finally not looking like a pasty mess!

Pet peeve
If I'm waiting for someone who is running late and they walk in with a coffee they obviously stopped to get. Well, I have quite the solution for your losing track of time. Give me the coffee first and we'll go from there.
I seriously wonder how I get involved in some of the conversations I have with strangers. I'm an innocent bystander at a store and BAM! Last week, it was the jewelry counter at Ross, which ended up with someone telling me that I'm the type of friend she likes, all because I said something slightly witty about shopping priorities. Today, it was the card/price scanner thing at a CVS.
Again, after I was accosted about coupons(?!) and mentioned something, which I of course don't remember now, she said, "Ah, encountering a young person with a quick sense of humor. There is hope for young people." Well, grey, frizzy-haired lady with a fixation on coupons, I don't know what I did, but I'll take it as a compliment... I think. And the fact that people love randomly talking to me will always make my life entirely too entertaining.
And when I thought I was in the clear, she's walking out while I'm in line and strikes up another conversation about my Strand Bookstore tote and the bookstore itself. Oof.

I found this yesterday in a restaurant window in Center City. I never found a quote that accurately explains how my mind works until now. I worry too much, often about things that are either out of my control or things that just aren't likely to happen, but I'm afraid they might. I'm attempting to work on it, but obviously it isn't something that'll change overnight.

Father's Day post... a day later.
The only excuse I have for lacking in an obligatory post about my dad on Father's Day is because I forgot my iPad at my apartment while visiting my parents for the weekend.
Here's one of many pictures of the two of us, this one coming from sometime in '88, I think. Apparently I've been perfecting the scrunchy face since that time.
Anyways, this guy had a lot to do with how I am now. He's turned me into quite the smart ass with witty comments to boot, among other great qualities. At least once a week, either my mom, my dad or both of them will say, "The apple didn't fall far from the tree." You got it, even though some things that drive me crazy about him are qualities that I have myself.
I think the one thing that I'm beyond grateful for is his crazy work ethic. He's busted his ass since he came to this country. He's definitely instilled that "don't be lazy, work for it" mentality in me, and needless to say, I'm a hard worker because of it.
Thanks, Dad.

It's funny to think that when I was younger, I loathed the beach. Now, just throw me on there on a beautiful day and I'm good to go.

It's new blog time.
I've been in a writing funk for a while, and here's my attempt to get out of it. Yeah, I've done the Tumblr thing, but there's something about constantly reblogging that makes me wish that there was more original content on there, or at least on my own personal blog. In general, I wanted to make something to post the thoughts I have, the random hijinks that ensue in my life and the many pictures I take.
I guess I'll do the whole "a little ditty about me" thing... I'm 27, live in Philly, love music (who doesn't?), grammar nerd, a sucker for flea markets and more things that will probably come out through here.
The blog name came out of my personal mantra of never trusting anyone who drinks decaf. I mean, what's the point?
Oh, I don't drink, so coffee is my vice. There's method to my madness, believe me.
So here we go...
